Alternative Heating Sources
Did you know that the U.S. now consumes 76 quadrillion Btu of energy per year? This is enough energy to light one home for 20 billion years! Over half of the energy used in the average American home is for heating and cooling. Another 20 percent goes for heating water. With rising heating fuel prices, other alternatives heating sources are becoming more popular in our homes such as wood burning stoves, pellet stoves, and the new corn and wood pellet stove.
The Mercantile not only keeps these stoves and wood pellets in stock, but have trained team members that can answer questions on installation and functions of these stoves. A properly installed wood or pellet stove can cut heating cost considerably.
